research proposal (title page and reference page does not count towards the

What is a research Proposal?
A large component of your course will involve completing a
research proposal. A research proposal is plan outlining what you intend to
research, how you intend to do it, why you consider
it necessary, and the theoretical/scientific basis of the research. The
proposal will include the following s
sections.
1.
Abstract
2.
SECTION I: Introduction
Problem Statement
The Research
Objectives/Questions/Hypotheses
The Study
Rationale
3.
SECTION II: Literature Review
Relevant Literature
4.
SECTION III: The Research Methodology
The Theoretical/Conceptual Framework
Research Design
Step-by-step methods
5.
SECTION IV: List of References
6.
SECTION V: List of Appendices
Abstract: A short
paragraph or two allowing readers get the gist or essence of your paper
quickly, while indicating key takeaway from your papers (the topic being
studied, why it is important, and the method you plan to utilize)  (1 page)
SECTION I:  This is the introduction section. Here,
you will subheadings such as Problem Statement, The Objectives/ Questions/ and
Hypothesis (if it is a quantitate/ mixed methods study), and the study
rationale (purpose of the study). (2-4 pages)
SECTION II:  This is the literature review where you will
review literature based on your topic.
Remember, in literature review, you are reporting the facts. Not
mentioning your opinion. You can use articles you used from the needs
assessment and the article critique. (4-6 pages)
When
deciding what kind of research to look for: This about your needs
assessment and article critique. Based on the information you found there, what
are some topics you should explore before conducting a study? For example,  if I was researching  adults who are grieving, I may have found
that they tend to rely heavily on healing
that is associated with funeral customs. Therefore, I would do research
on funeral customs associated with my population.
In other
words,  based on the information you have
thus far, what are at least  4 areas you
should research about this population and topic that you should know before
conducing the study? Then look up each area and present the literature you find
online. This will also show you gaps in the literature which will indicate to
you what kind of study you should conduct.
You can
find an example of section II online on Blackboard.
SECTION III:  This is the research methodology.
You will indicate what theoretical/conceptual framework you plan to use,
research design, and the steps you will use to conduct the study (including
forms you will use/ survey you will provide. An actual copy of the survey will
be provided in section V. Remember a key component of the research method is
collecting IRB approval (this must be mentioned as a step). (3-4 pages)
