Evaluating Science in the Media
For this week’s discussion, you will be applying what you have just learned about what makes good science to evaluate news articles that have been posted and re-posted on social media (mostly Facebook). Time for you to start using your skills to find the answer! Use the contents of the module to help you ( How to Evaluate Scientific Claims PDF.)
For the second post, respond to a classmate’s post (on a different article than the one you read) with an analysis of the science used in the article.
Review the list from the Module of 15 ways to analyze scientific claims.
Pick any two of the 15 given examples from the article on how the claim made by the article is either supported by good science or point out any problems with the science (or lack of science) used in the article. In conclusion, give your thoughts on the legitimacy of this article.
