Read – Learning Objectives:
Chapter 5: Industrialization and Dominant-Minority Relations

Instructions: Select one of the topics below. Read the chapters related to the topic you will be discussing and use Healey, et al as one of your in-text citations and reference list. Additionnally, expand the research and do empirical research (at least 5 additional sources), and write about your findings; if you don’t know how to do empirical research, please contact the UTRGV Writing Center, or UTRGV Learning Center.  Your paper should be  about 4 or 5 pages long including the reference list; 12pt. font size, double spaced, Times New Roman font. Avoid plagiarizing; practice in-text citations, and, include a list of references. Follow a format of your choice (MLA, APA, ASA, etc; if you don’t know how to follow a format, contact the UTRGV Writing Center or Learning Center), be consistent throughout the paper. Submit the assignment through Blackboard. Additionally, prepare a PowerPoint presentation about your paper and send as a second attachment. The PowerPoint slides should be a max. of 10 slides and min. of 5 slides. No audio recording is required, only optional. If you are not able to attach the PowerPoint slides then do a screen shot of the presentation slides and include it with the paper. There will be a 10 point late penalty per day late. After 3 days of lateness, Blackboard will reject your late paper.
Select ONE of the topics below:  
Discuss the key differences between “traditional” racism and “modern” racism. Why has “traditional” racism declined? Which appears to be less difficult to confront and eliminate, “traditional” or “modern” prejudice? Why?

Component 2:
Organization:  1. Includes examples as they apply to today’s world. 2. Uses terminology from the chapter; cites the authors; demonstrates strong organization of ideas by following a format.
Component 3:
Analysis: 1. Discusses eloquently results from the research 2. Discusses if agree/disagree with the findings and explains the reasons why or why not.
Component 4:
Format: Follows a format and uses, 1. Title 2. In-text citations 3. Reference list 4. Grammar 5. Includes a PowerPoint presentation.
