It’s hard for grownups to imagine themselves as little children or what their life was like then (let alone remember).
You might have to ask a parent or relative for some help remembering that time period.
Feel free to include other relevant information or stories about yourself.
As you reflect back or find out about your life as a young child, consider how those early days might have influenced your development in all of the areas listed in the rubric below-physical growth and development, cognitive and learning development, personality and social development and consider all the contexts of development discussed in your textbook.
Make sure to include how your preschool years impacted your development in these areas and how it has impacted who you are today.
APA Style Requirements for this Paper
Utilize at least 2 references to support your reflections on how your early experiences have impacted your development and cite them appropriately using APA style. At least one of the references must be a peer reviewed journal article. The other can be any kind of resource and you may use your book as this references if you prefer. See the following site for help: Purdue Online Writing LabLinks to an external site.
Use APA style for your paper (double-spaced, 1″ margins on all sides, 12 pt. Times New Roman font).
You do not need an abstract but do include a “Running head”.
Your paper should be 3-4 pages in length not including the cover page (name, title of the paper, course name, college name and date or the reference page which should be included at the end).
Listed below are a number of questions to help you recreate your life in early childhood. You do NOT have to answer all of them or any of them if you choose not to. They are just a helpful tool to get you started if needed. The most important thing is to make sure you address all of the areas mentioned in the rubric below for full credit.
Where did your family live when you were a preschooler? Who was living in the house? Did you share a bedroom? With who? Did you have a ”going to bed” routine? Can you describe it?
What was your favorite toy? Story? Game?
Describe one of your preschool birthdays. Who was there? What presents did you get?
Recreate an early Christmas or holiday. Do any of the family traditions still occur today? If you have children, do you carry on these traditions for Christmas or a holiday in similar fashion?
Did your mother work? Did you go to preschool or have a babysitter? When did you first write your name? Is there a copy of it somewhere?
Do you recall any special event, pleasant or traumatic, that happened to you or in your family between 2 and 6 years of age? How might this have affected your later development?
Who was your closest friend? Describe a common activity you played.
What was your health like? Any serious illnesses? Did you have any food preferences?
Ask someone to describe your personality and some of your typical behaviors.
Try to describe your earliest memory.
I experienced a really rough childhood where i do not remember 90% of my memories. I exexperienced a lot of domestic violence growing up while living with my mom and it was fromy father . He was extremely strict i wasnt allowed to have friends over, i could only watch several TV shows, i could only play several games, i had to eat, sleep a certain way. It was tthe most traumatic experience till about the age of 14. I think that experience caused a lot of depression while i was growing up. However, i most say that thankfully i am who i am today and people would describe me as driven , strong, funny, charismatic and caring. I do not remember any early memories.
